Topics include the Korean Diaspora, the Korean Wave (Hallyu), Korea as a conduit between China and Japan, social and religious practices, Korean women, the Japanese occupation, and Korea's global impact. The aim is to articulate the key historic developments that have shaped contemporary Korean society, recognize and distinguish unique Korean influences and contributions, and assess key aspects of traditional and contemporary Korean society and culture. Focus is on developing a stronger understanding of Korean society and culture for practical and professional application. Students may receive credit for only one of the following courses: ASTD 353 or KORN 333. |
